Part of walking in wisdom to become skillful we must allow ourselves to be trained. We need to learn how to work in certain areas. (I have always tried to practice this) Through the practice of doing something over and over and over, we learn how to do it. It is as simple as that. In the natural there are different examples, such as, when our children are learning how to walk, they will fall down. Do we expect them to fall down? Yes. That is not unbelief or a negative confession, its reality. We also learn many things by falling down. I don’t mean we learn how to be humble by God breaking our arm… no, I am not talking about that. Possibly a person asks us what to do about a situation and we share our solution. But, then later, we listened to somebody teach and they said, “In this situation, this is the best thing to do.” We think, “Oh my, I told them to do the opposite.” Skilled wisdom gets training from other situations and then turns it around and helps people. So, lets ask God to give us His spiritual wisdom.....&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are three things to remember when learning from this scripture: First, we do have some knowledge.  Most of us already have wisdom in certain areas.  We have already grown some as Christians.  Second, we will get skillful and godly wisdom from just plain learning, trying, working, experiencing and speaking.  As we mature and grow, we gain more insight.  Third, we must open our mouths and allow the Spirit of God to talk through us.  More often than not we never know that it happened.  I have had people come to me and say, “You said this to me and I could not believe it.” I have prayed for people before and they have come back a month later and proceeded to tell me what I prayed for and I think, “Skillful and godly wisdom and counsel came right from my mouth and I had no knowledge of it.”  It came forth because of the Spirit of God. I usually don’t address the singles but I thought it would be a great topic!&lt;br /&gt;I have 8 things to bring to your attention….&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Talk to Avoid&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don’t talk about your last boyfriend, fiancé or husband on the first few dates. Men immediately think one of two things if you talk about your ex during a date. Either you’re still hung up on him, or you’re bitter and angry about being dumped. A guy doesn’t like either of these options, and he’ll take a pass on someone with that kind of emotional baggage.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Be Yourself&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For a single woman, dating advice should probably be more complex than that, but really it all boils down to those two words: "Be yourself." Forget playing the girl who you think he would want to catch his interest if you aren’t that type. You also shouldn’t go into details about how you borrowed the dress from a friend because it was so expensive you’d never dream of buying it yourself, blah, blah, blah lol lol. If he says you look lovely in the dress, acknowledge the compliment and move on. He really doesn’t want the details of how or why you look great – but he will appreciate being thanked for noticing that you do. (I personally hate late!!) Whether you’re meeting a man someplace or he’s picking you up, it’s not polite or thoughtful to leave him cooling his heels – and no, and it doesn’t build anticipation. It just makes you seem rude. Really ladies your date will start off so bad and maybe end bad!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Express Your Opinions Honestly&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Men quickly get bored with women who always agree with everything they say. Sure, it may be flattering to the ego for a bit, but that soon fades to boredom and/or irritation when they realize they can’t sustain an intelligent conversation with you. It’s also draining personally to keep up that kind of the whole thing! – what are you going to do a year from now? Stand firm on issues that are important to you, discuss events honestly but don’t get into an argument just to prove you’re right. Disagreeing on some things is what adds spice to a relationship – as long as the disagreements aren’t moral or life-changing. But, don’t be a jerk about it! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don’t be a Pest&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It may sound like old-fashioned dating advice for women, but I believe it still holds true – men like to know they’re interesting, but they don’t want to be nagged into dating you. Can you call a man a few days after a date and thank him for a nice evening and chat? Sure! But don’t call the next day, then the next, then the next. Leave one message – if he’s interested, he’ll call you back. It may take a few days (he could be busy, he could be nervous). If he isn’t interested, increasingly desperate, repeated messages from you won’t help your cause.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Be Positive&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You are on a date, not at a therapy session. When I saw this one cactus it reminded me of a song yrs. ago that starts out with "One is the loneliest number that there ever was" I do believe that on so many levels. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But, the one I want to talk about today is souls for Christ. It has always been a huge passion of mine to win souls for Christ. The bible says in the book of proverbs "He that wins souls is wise" If "one" would win one there would never be "one" alone! :) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's amazing how each one of us could win one soul for Christ how the world could be won almost over night. (I could be a bit off there) but you get my point. Jesus left the ninety nine to go after the "one" Now if He can lead the way how much more we should follow in His foots steps. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, this Sunday or Wed. bring a friend to church so they can find the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they will pay it forward! So, why do I write about this? Because a smile just doesn't affect you... it also touches all those who will come in contact with through out your day! About twelve yrs. ago I was at a very low time in my life.I can remember praying to God and asking him to use someone that day to give me a smile. To some that read this it won't be much of an impact to. To others it will bring tears to your eyes because you have been in a place where one smile got you through the day. As believers when we smile no matter what our situation it tell a great story of Christ in us... There are so many hurting people in the world in which we live in. Especially in public.&lt;br /&gt;Still with me?&lt;br /&gt;It’s so important that we are respectful.  Does that mean that we cannot disagree with him?  Absolutely not.  But how we handle it is key!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What you say and how you say it most definitely reflects to others…whether it’s your children or other people around you.  You husband was created to be the leader of your home, that doesn’t mean he’s to lord over you, but to demean him is to remove that from him completely.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some women may actually be thinking that’s a good thing, but I can promise you this…it will destroy many facets of your relationship and even your family structure.  I don’t have a technical explanation or a fancy mumbo jumbo name for it, it’s just the simple truth. lol&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yet another one of those things that are Biblically laid out for us…those are my favorites.  The kind of scriptures that tell us how to live and all we have to do is listen and things will go swimmingly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping (Proverbs 19:13b)&lt;br /&gt;Or maybe this one… (Like I always say @ the V.I.E.W. say what you want to say...then move on and let your husband process what you have said) A lot to be said about Men Are From Mars... &lt;br /&gt;However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:33)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Of course, I could go on and on…but I won’t. Here’s the deal though, these instructions are definitely NOT to belittle you, trap you, make you feel like the lesser mate. They are completely to protect you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Can I just admit that when I mess up and am less than lovely to my husband I think it’s me who incurs the most damage in the end.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Can I just encourage you to focus a bit on how you are regarding your husband this next week, especially in public and in front of your children?  If you do mess up, simply ask for forgiveness (from your hubby) and move on.&lt;br /&gt;I pray that your marriage is blessed! However, when it becomes bondage to our belief in what God's word says that "healing" is our portion and it's already been provided according to 1Pet.2:24 as well as many other scrip. Then we are not having a full revelation to health @ all.&lt;br /&gt; The bible teaches us that we are to do all things in moderation. Let’s start believing the word and not put so much thought into what the world tweets about because they do not have a revelation truth about God's teaching concerning health. &lt;br /&gt;I for one will not receive or believe that what I eat can add one extra day of health to my person.(IF) I put my faith and trust in His word) NOW..don't mistake me by saying I believe you can belly up three times a day to the all you can eat buffet. No! Bishop Pruitt made it so plain on Sunday that in Jesus’ day they all were on a Mediterranean diet and yet many were sick that needed to be healed. So we clearly see by Jesus having to heal all those who walked every where, ate all the good foods of the time, that eating alone does not keep you healed...&lt;br /&gt;So let’s get back to the word and what it says and not be distracted by trying to work our way into health. As of late my husband Bishop and Pastor Jerry Pruitt of FBIC in Phoenix AZ. (@bishoppruitt twitter.com) has been bring a series of messages on God Loves Us!The response has been over the top! Many in Christ do not know that they are set free from guilt and condemnation once they commit themselves to Christ. &lt;br /&gt;We must never take for granted the word of God when it declares "Who God Sets Free, Is Free Indeed" I myself have been of the very few not had to battle this situation. (self righteousness settled in early in life}lol  I believe those who had natural Fathers in life that were there to guide them helps out greatly to accept the love of the Father of heaven.&lt;br /&gt;What happens is when you don't know the love of God you will begin to perform for Him and those around you. The very word perform means:do, execute, achieve, act upon, play, put on, stage..Do any of these words describe you? Do you find yourself condemned because you do not read enough, pray enough, praise enough? Get my point? &lt;br /&gt;Well, not to say we should not do the above, but never forgetting this is for our benifit, not His! Now that's good news huh? Years ago before I knew Christ I was put in a situation of free will in my personal life. It was as if I were in a box that I couldn't get out of. Without going into all the very long details of what took place before the choice came to me I was liberated by the fact there was a choice!&lt;br /&gt;As soon as I realized that I had a free will to my very serious situation instead of running from it I totally embraced it! Weird huh? That a choice of freedom will cause you to choose the better part even when it seems to be the road of least resistance!  we learn that God is for us and not against us. &lt;br /&gt;We will read more, pray more, praise more..get it? It;s His love that causes us to do things in Him and for Him. We can stop the performance act! So today precious readers get off the treadmill of performance by faith accept that you have been redeemed by His blood and there is absolutely accept you are His beloved! That it is a finished work that Christ provided at the cross. He loves you as you are! God's word declares in John 3:16 for God so loved the world He gave His only son! Accept the gift of love, live out the gift of love. Reminds me of the young fiancé who, after learning that her husband to be didn’t believe like she did, cried to her mother saying, “Mom, what should I do? How can I change his thinking? He says he doesn’t believe in hell?” The Mother said, “Honey, that’s alright, you marry him and both of us will make him believe in hell.” &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;font face="lucida grande" color="#000066"&gt;&lt;/font&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;font face="lucida grande" color="#000066"&gt;As funny as this is the truth is the roll as a women in marriage is huge! Both partners in the marriage must be prepared to put their partner’s happiness&lt;strong&gt; ahead&lt;/strong&gt; of their own from time to time for the marriage to truly work. If either partner is completely self centered and unwilling to make sacrifices it will create resentment in the marriage. When I saw Dress My Nest a very popular show I couldn’t help but think of the disfuntional nation we live in today. And how desperately need to learn how to dress the nest. (building the family)&lt;br /&gt;I love the old testament to follow as an example to us. No better example of how we must dress our nest. The next generations depend upon the success we have and to be able to pass the mantel to.&lt;br /&gt;  We see: The bible is the only way to dress our nest:&lt;br /&gt;The first five books of the Bible present to us this early experience of Israel as they discovred their history of what God had done through their ancestors.&lt;br /&gt; And it describes this special relationship, a relationship we call a covenant relationship, because there is an actual agreement between God and humanity, and that's talked about in the first five books of the Bible.&lt;br /&gt; And this relationship, this covenant, this agreement talks about how God makes certain commitments to us and how we make certain commitents back to God. And so, the old part of the Bible, well it's all old to us now, but the older part, the Old Testament is a desription of this first agreement for the nation of Israel.&lt;br /&gt;And we are now living in what we call the New Covenant. That's a new agreement that has come through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  This is where God wants us @ this present time.&lt;br /&gt;So the words we are going to hear though since it's part of the same agreement, the same God who is relating to us in humanity.&lt;br /&gt; There are many things we can learn from this early relationship, 3,500 years old, a relationship between God and his people. And this part of the covenant that we are going to read from Deuteronomy 6, verses 4 to 9, these verses talk specifically about our response as families to what God has offered to us. So let's hear the words of Deuteronomy 6, verses 4 to 9.&lt;br /&gt;"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your sol and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children.&lt;br /&gt;Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorfrmes of your houses and on your gates."&lt;br /&gt;we have to talk about it even though we are all not in the same stage or place of life and that issue, one of those isues that we have to deal with is the issue of parenting. And&lt;br /&gt;"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give to you today are to be upon your hearts."&lt;br /&gt;The first responsibility in Dressing our nest in parenting is to model what it means to have a God-centered life; to model it even before we speak it&lt;br /&gt;Model= Dict. copy of object&lt;br /&gt;. This is a reality check. You know, no amount of talking, no amount of bringing people to church, no amount of paying high tuiton to send your kids to good school is going to make up for the fact that you don't model what it means to be a Christian family. We did all the above!&lt;br /&gt;Now, we can look at some obvious things, you know the parents who drive up to church and drop their kids off to go to Sunday school and to church and then they go over to Starbucks. We may think of this insane but it’s the truth.&lt;br /&gt;They are modeling something. They are modeling the fact that church and religious things are for kids and when they grow up this is what they will be doing.&lt;br /&gt;The one thing both of our adult children confess is that we were an example to them in word and in deed. And in return they (copied an object) modeled themselves after us.&lt;br /&gt;.  Dressing our nest is about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, to follow him.&lt;br /&gt;. We come from a good family and we have respnded well to what God has done through that family. And then we have a certain toughness that no matter what life throws against us we can survive, and we can prosper, and we can even thrive, because of the things that were built into us through those years, through those experiences and those relationships we have in the family.&lt;br /&gt;And if a family is really bad, then we can spend the rest of our lives trying to heal from those wounds. So it's really important for us to be serious about what it means to be parents.&lt;br /&gt;Being in ministry as many years as we have it’s still  astounding to the mind how many young people cannot move past the hurts they inquired from their parents and the inviormrnt they came from.My husband Bishop Pruitt could have been a product of his environment. However,He made an conscience decision at an early life to follow hard after God and not let his future family suffer the consequnces of his past wounds. He all the years raising our family was determind not to let the curses of his past become a present life style.&lt;br /&gt;Dressing the nest is important work. There are some things that God only does through the family and so I think it is important that we reconize that there are some things that God wants to do through parents that he is not going to do by you dragging them to church.&lt;br /&gt;In our home having been saved at the age of tweny five and having two children five and six we had an advantage because of their young age that some parents don’t have because salvation comes to the home when children are older. However, I believe the principles remain the same. That we must bait the hook of our children to provoke them to wanting God in their lives.&lt;br /&gt;I am in firm believe that we as parents should have strong values in our homes. One of them is we all go to church when the doors are opened. Constancy is the answer to every solution.&lt;br /&gt;Now that's important, for us all to be at church, but we are here to support the family in what it is doing. You can see from the verses we just read that there is a central responsibility of the family for what God is doing in our lives.&lt;br /&gt; Families are incredibly important and God created it to be that way and that's good. That is part of the special thing that God is doing through you; shaping your children, giving them skills, teaching them about relationships, and teaching that they are as people.&lt;br /&gt;That's all part of your role. And part of your role too is that every parent is an evangelist, the primary evangelist that God has given to the life of your children. Now the church can help. Great youth events can help. A good Sunday school can help, but you are still God's primary voice to them. And so we need help. This is an important part of life.&lt;br /&gt;I think of our church when we do baby dedication and the vows that are made by the parents. We always try to convey to the parents that they will set the example to their child.&lt;br /&gt;So since there is so much responsibility there we need to think about what it means to be parents and to convert to what it means to make a Godly home. And so we are going to look into this passage in Deuteronomy and take a look at some of the things that it teaches us.&lt;br /&gt;I want to look in the first few verses again, verses 4, 5 and 6.&lt;br /&gt;What do they see of us when we encounter a difficulty, how do we handle that? What's our response? How do we approach God? How do we approach each other in those times of stress?&lt;br /&gt;We are modeling what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Do they see us pray? Do they hear us pray? Do we pray together? Do they see us study the Word? Do they understand that we see ourselves and our story as disciples, as parents, as being inside of the big story of what God is doing in the world?&lt;br /&gt;What do we model to our kids? This all seems so extremely overwhelming even as I write this…&lt;br /&gt;But these are vital points! So:&lt;br /&gt;Where do we begin?&lt;br /&gt;The first part of dressing our nest is to be a Godly person, to seek God and to seek God's faith.&lt;br /&gt;What's it say here? "Love the Lord God with all your heart, with your entire mind, with all your strength with everything that you are."&lt;br /&gt;We always taught our children that there was nothing impossible for them in Christ Jesus. But they learned first in life that they must seek God first in their world.&lt;br /&gt;There is another way that we shape them and we produce That's the first part.&lt;br /&gt;Dressing our nest is talking with our kids about what it means to be a Christian. So, the second part of this it says, impress them, meaning these commandments, these truths about God, and impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.&lt;br /&gt;It's important to share our faith with our kids. But this word "impress" kind of scares me when I first see it because I have this image that you sit your kids down in a straight back chair in a darkened room, you put lights on them and you know you say, "This is the truth". That's not the model here. It's a natural thing.&lt;br /&gt;So there are these natural moments; watching a commercial on TV. and if somebody acts out, you can say, "Is that a good thing to do? What's wrong with that?" letting the world be an example even when it’s bad..&lt;br /&gt; Or if they do something good be able to address it.&lt;br /&gt;It might be a nightly devotional with our kids. When they are really small we just pray God's blessing on them. When they get a little older, we actually started to train them they have the same anointing as we do if operated in faith believing.&lt;br /&gt;Let's go to the next few verses here. It says, "tie them," again talking about these laws, these commandments, these things that God has revealed about themselves, "Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.&lt;br /&gt;Write them on the doorframes of your houses, and on your gates." This whole picture is that this is really important stuff. It's got to permeate our family. This is a high priority thing, this relationship with God and the things that grow out of this relationship to God, and so the way we set priorities in life is part of us establishing a Godly home.&lt;br /&gt;One of the decisions that Bishop and I made early in our marriage, is that we were going to have dinners together as a family. So that meant that I wasn't going to quarrel during dinner time. We were going to be like leave it to beaver’s home. (Most of the time that worked)&lt;br /&gt;. We had a few rough patches about that, but basically we just accepted the fact that this is the time we talk together as a family and we enjoyed that for years and, in fact, pretty much till the kids got into high years of high school.&lt;br /&gt;In dressing the nest priorities our essential.&lt;br /&gt;Now think about all the tensions that come in to our families because we don't set priorities, because we pack too much in and so the good, or the kind of good, starts to push out the best and so we have these situations where we've got so many things packed into the afternoon that we are yelling at our kids,&lt;br /&gt;"Hurry up", "Do this", "Eat that", "Get off the phoe", "We've got to go to this or we've got to go to that" and at the end of the day we feel like glorified taxi drivers or slave drivers. Why? Becaue we didn't say no to some things, in order to say yes to others.&lt;br /&gt;We set priority or bondries to television shows my children watched. We decided one hr. was sufficient. This enabled our children to develop themselves in creativity. This also give them time to learn scriptures and project and develop them them into their destiny. This really worked for us because our children as adults are so accomplished in every area of their lives.&lt;br /&gt;How does this begin?&lt;br /&gt;We do this by the power of God.&lt;br /&gt;. We need the power of the Holy Spirit.&lt;br /&gt;What does your day look like in terms of the priorities that we see God gives us in scripture?&lt;br /&gt;Now there is one other thing that's in this passage and it's in the same two final verses.&lt;br /&gt; Reminders! And synbols!&lt;br /&gt;It says this, "Tie them, these commandmnts, these things revealed about God, tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads." Write them on the doorframes of your house and on your gates."&lt;br /&gt;This whole idea of having these reminders in life, these symbols in life, that remind of us what our story really is and how our story relates to God's big story. Where are we in relationship to God and to one another?&lt;br /&gt; We need symbols of that and so for the Jewish family, one of those symbols was the one that they put on the door post and they call it the Mezuzahs and it's a little container and inside it are the very verses we read today. When we were in Israel they had these Mezuzahas on the doors.&lt;br /&gt;Israel is such an amazing plce to go. It totally made the bible come alive even more than it did.&lt;br /&gt;"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, is one Lord and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, your mind and your strength".&lt;br /&gt;And so every time they would go in and out of the house they would have that reminder right there, "We are a covenant people. We are in relationship to the creator of the world and the one who has made an agreeent with us and this means that we shape our lives certain ways and they had that reminder there."&lt;br /&gt;As we dress our nest First, we have a new relationship.The Old Covenant was something you were born into. If you were born of Jewish parents, you were an Israelite. You were an Israelite because all your family had been Israelites. It wasn’t a choice that you made – it was pretty much made for you.But to become a Christians is something else again. You can’t be born “into the church.” You CAN be born of Christian parents and be brought to church every Sunday of your life. But you can’t be “born” a Christian just because your parents were.You have to be reborn “of water and of the spirit” (John 3:5). You have to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. You need to recognize that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness and repent of your sins. You need confess Jesus is your master, the one who will now run your life.&lt;br /&gt;The reason we don’t need to be taught to “know God” is because THAT is one of the basic requirements of belonging to God in this New Covenant. So, one of the great promises of this NEW covenant is that we’ll have a personal relationship with God.No one else can make that decision for you. But when we’ve made that decision, Romans 8:15 tells us we have “… received the Spirit of Sonship. And by him we cry, "(Abba,) Father”The reason we don’t need to be taught to “know God” is because THAT is one of the basic requirements of belonging to God in this New Covenant. We as moms play an essential role in helping shape children's eating habits. I grew up in the era that we had the three home cooked meals (as u guessed a stay home mom) I was blessed to have that.&lt;br /&gt;So, as my Kids grew up they didn't always get to choose what they wanted. I was already trained by my mom of food choices. As I was training them I would trick them by putting honey in their oatmeal rather than sugar. I am a believer in alternatives.&lt;br /&gt;I want to share a few tips that may be a blessing to you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Try these simple tips to help your children eat well and learn to enjoy nutritious foods.&lt;br /&gt;Focus on eating nutrient-rich foods instead of what not to eat.Since most children are not getting enough of the key nutrients they need, teaching them to choose nutrient-rich foods is more important than ever.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Watch this:&lt;br /&gt;Brightly colored fruits and 100% fruit juice&lt;br /&gt;Dark colored vegetables&lt;br /&gt;Whole, and fiber-rich grain foods&lt;br /&gt;Low fat and fat-free milk, cheese and yogurt&lt;br /&gt;Lean meats, skinless poultry, fish, eggs, beans and nuts.&lt;br /&gt;With all the behavior problems that stem in children today (because of food related habits) this will be a benefit for them.&lt;br /&gt;Believe it or not all of these choices above today are my favorite choices!&lt;br /&gt;. Watch this:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;A smoothie made with berries and low-fat yogurt has more fat and calories than a diet soda and baked chips; But it is far better for kids because it has many beneficial nutrients they need for growth and health. We must always think health. This smoothie is full of nutrient-rich, vitamins, and anti-oxidants. Here's the hard part,&lt;br /&gt;Set a good example. (I know girls this is not always easy 2 do.)Children are better equipped to make better choices if they see you choosing nutrient-rich foods, such as colorful fruits and vegetables, low-fat or fat-free milk, cheese and yogurt, and whole grains.&lt;br /&gt;Make your children a part of this. Let them shop with you and do alternative foods. Also things done in moderation are fine!Let kids know that all foods fit into a healthful diet — there are no "good" or "bad" foods. The key is moderation.(That is my favorite word)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Be positive! Help to avoid the stress and guilt that can lead to eating disorders and poorer eating patterns as children get older.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Set expectations.It's easier for children to make healthy food choices when they know the family's "nutrition rules of the road." For example:&lt;br /&gt;Everyone in the family starts the day with breakfast. Milk is the beverage served at dinner. Anyway this is the way I grew up!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Cook together. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Children are more likely to get excited about healthful eating when they help with meal planning and preparation. Ask 4 their help when you make soups, salads and pasta sauces. (I taught my son to do pasta sauce @ the age of twelve.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Allow them to add a personal touch to their food they make...&lt;br /&gt;Shop together. (If possible)Shop for healthy foods from the perimeter of the supermarket.&lt;br /&gt;Help children choose one or two of their favorite nutrient-rich snacks to pack for snack time or eat after school.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Talk to your kids about smart food choices and how important they are for learning and doing well in school, playing for fun and sports, and feeling good and staying healthy. This makes them want to do better.&lt;br /&gt;Even if it's a fast food restaurant, convenience store or vending machine, encourage them to find options, such as flavored milk or a smoothie instead of soda, or pretzels instead of chips.&lt;br /&gt;Make good nutrition available....Fill the kitchen with healthy foods that are ready to eat: colorful fruits and cut-up fresh vegetables;&lt;br /&gt;Low-fat plain and flavored milk, cheese and yogurt; and whole-grain snacks instead of high-fat, high-sugar snacks. Remind kids that these foods are there for the asking.&lt;br /&gt;Make mealtime family time.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Make family mealtime a priority. It can be at any meal, not just dinner. Family meals promote good eating habits. As I was raising our children we always ate around the table. (Teen yrs. were a bit difficult.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Involve your kids in the planning and preparing, too. It helps them learn that mealtime is important family time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Encourage kids to healthy foods in the school. Or, pack a healthful lunch at home if you have the time.
